A McLean County judge has barred many of the witness statements prosecutors tried to introduce in the murder trial of Kirk Zimmerman
Zimmerman is accused of killing his ex-wife, Pamela Zimmerman, in November 2014.
The ruling means that the jury will not hear most of the 40 statements witnesses say were allegedly made by him or Pamela Zimmerman.
Prosecutors say the statements give insight into the emotional and financial mentality of the Zimmermans. The defense calls them opinion and unreliable.
According to our news partner, WJBC, prosecutors will be allowed to introduce testimony from Pamela’s attorney, regarding her request for child support, and from another acquaintance, stating the Kirk was frustrated the payments would prevent him from retiring.
A date for the trial has not been set yet. A motion hearing has been set for August 3.
