East Peoria Commissioner John Kahl has officially announced his intent to run for mayor.
“Everything I do is going to be a focus on quality of life here in East Peoria,” said candidate John Kahl. “Life long resident. [I] have a love for this city. We have a lot of great people and quite honestly, we need to attract new residents and retain the ones we have.”
He said he doesn’t have a plan for the city rather a vision he wants see come to life.
“To me, it’s all about public servitude first of all and to me, that’s more than just showing up at a city council meeting and casting a vote,” Kahl said. “It’s quite honestly, serving the people. Integrity, responsiveness, volunteerism, community involvement are huge for me.”
Current East Peoria Mayor Dave Mingus will not seek re-election, but WMBD is expecting commissioner Tim Jeffers to announce his candidacy next week.
