Kids going into kindergarten and their family got a free pass into the zoo Saturday.

Peoria Public Schools is trying to ease the transition from preschool to kindergarten by holding what they call a kindergarten round up.

Parents got all of their enrollment paper work and learned about all of the immunizations and physicals their kids would need before starting kindergarten while enjoying the zoo with their family.

“It’s such an exciting time for families to get ready,” says Katie Cobb, Principal at Valeska Hinton. “There’s so much information as well, so it’s nice to get started now in the spring time, so that you have now the spring time and then the summer to get ready so that when fall comes you are prepared.”

Next week all of the Peoria Public Schools primary schools will be having their spotlight events so they can visit the teachers and get their enrollment paper turned in.
