CREVE COEUR, Ill. — A principal in Central Illinois was honored Monday at the annual Elementary Student Recognition Breakfast.
Mic McCormick, principal of La Salle Elementary School in Creve Coeur, was named Principal of the Year on Monday. McCormick is widely loved by staff and students and has built strong relationships with the children over the last 5 years.
To show their appreciation, the entire school put on a surprise to welcome him back after the ceremony.
“As I got closer I thought, they wouldn’t, would they? Sure enough as I rounded the corner… if you saw me, it brought tears to my eyes.” said McCormick.
“It’s pretty amazing because he is our principal and it’s really cool that we have the opportunity to celebrate with him.” said Lorelei Brower, 4th grader at La Salle.
This will be principal McCormick’s last year at La Salle as he will be leaving the position at the end of this school year.
