Heavy snowfall is hitting the northern parts of our area.
LaSalle-Peru is doing what they can to stay ahead of the snow, but the storm is a little bigger than they expected. The area is under a winter storm warning. Additional snow could lead to hazardous road conditions leading into the weekend. Friday morning, plow and salt trucks were only prepared for about 3 inches of snow, but now the roads are looking to accumulate nearly 8.
“It’s been coming all week,” said Jeff King, Public Services Manager. They’ve given us enough heads up that we’re going to get something. So not only with getting the trucks ready to go. Getting them filled up with salt, making sure they’re all mechanically ready to go. Also on social media, the city has put out warnings for our ordinances for vehicles to be off the road after 3 inches.”
The plow trucks are clearing off the roads as quickly as they can, but even the drivers have to take a break.
