BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — Youth Build McLean County and the West Bloomington Revitalization Project are teaming up to help children have a bed to sleep on, but they need your help.
Many children in McLean County don’t have beds of their own, and for the 4th year in a row, community leaders are doing what they can to fix that, through an event called Bed Blitz.
In October there will be a one-day event where volunteers assemble bed frames for low-income children ages four to 18. In addition to the twin-size bed frames, the children receive a “bed set” that includes a mattress, a hand-made quilt, pillow, sheets, a teddy bear, and books.
Leaders say they hope to serve a little more than 80 kids this year, but they need your help, the group needs monetary donations for supplies, and you can sign up as a volunteer to help build the beds.
