Lexington Hills apartment fire, 10 families affected

PEORIA, Ill.– Twelve units are damaged after a Sunday morning apartment fire.

Peoria Firefighters/paramedics were called to 3432 W. Oakcrest Dr. at approximately 9:20 a.m. Upon arrival, crews found smoke coming from the building with a fire in a living room of an apartment in the lower level.

All residents did self evacuate, but smoke damage was sustained in all 12 units. The Red Cross was called to assist families from 10 of the apartment units. One baby was evaluated and released to her mother at the scene.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
