Libertarian candidate for treasurer talks challenges of race

Local News

A Libertarian is looking to not only oust the incumbent treasurer, but stop a Republican from capturing the seat.

Mike Leheney is aware of the challenge of being a third-party candidate, but believes he has a more likely path to election than some of his ticket-mates.

Leheney says while incumbent Democrat Michael Frerichs is doing a good job with “blocking and tackling” of the job, Frerichs is too political. Leheney insists he isn’t bound to party bosses and won’t be speaking for anyone but himself and what’s in the best financial interest of the people of Illinois.
