Local business supports bees with a twist

Local News

WASHINGTON, Ill. — An art studio is helping protect the bees in a unique way.

Art at the Bodega hosted a Save the Bees party and fundraiser on Sunday. People could paint bee and honey inspired pottery pieces and enjoy a drink.

The event even had a special guest. Bees from the Central Illinois Beekeepers Association were on display as people painted.

The beekeeper taught people about the importance of bees and what they do.

“I just think that people need to know, you know, and I think its an education. If we can educate and have fun at the same time I think that’s a great way to do it,” said Tricia Yocum, the owner of Art at the Bodega.

Yocum wanted to host an event that could benefit the bees and teach others about how valuable they are to our lives.

A portion of the money from today’s event will go to protecting the bees.
