PEORIA HEIGHTS, Ill.– Local organizations and businesses are reminding veterans about resources that are available to them.
The third annual Armed Forces Celebration Day took place Saturday at the Peoria Heights Heritage Square.
Pour Bros. Taproom hosted the event, and it will continue until 11 p.m.
Peoria Heights Merchants, American Legion Post 1111, Navy/Marine Corp Club, VFW Post 2602 and the Peoria Heights Chamber of Commerce provided free concerts and games, silent auctions, and a 50/50 drawing for veterans and their families.
This year the event was aimed to raise money for the Peoria Area Habitat for Heroes.
The money raised during Saturday’s event will help Habitat for Humanity build a new home for a veteran by the end of 2020.
