Local volunteers head to Florida to help in Hurricane Dorian

Local News

PEORIA, Ill. — Local volunteers are helping with the Red Cross, as Hurricane Dorian heads towards Florida.

Cindy Clark, one of the volunteers, is going on her sixth major deployment.

She’s been to Florida, Texas, and North Carolina to help with other hurricanes.

This time, she’ll be working in a staging area in Tallahassee.

Clark says she enjoys volunteering and getting to meet and help so many people across the country.

“When we get out in the community and we’re out and about, they are so thankful. People come up, even in you’re in a restaurant, or walking across the street, several people will come by and say ‘Thank you so much. We appreciate it,'” said Clark.

Clark says the best way to help with hurricane relief is to donate to the Red Cross.
