People on both sides of the gun rights debate came together in Central Illinois this week, trying to better understand each others’ perspective.

A free screening of “Making a Killing: Guns, Greed, and the NRA sparked debate at the Peoria Public Library North Branch. The documentary looks at gun violence and setting a common ground for people to give their opinion. It also aims to help people to learn from the other side.

“We are gun owners and I like my guns, but I also want to be a responsible gun owner,” said Peoria County Board Member Sharon Williams.

A panel with local police leaders, the NAACP, and county board members followed the screening.
