Man Arrested After Allegedly Setting House on Fire

Local News

A man is facing jail time after being accused of killing his mom and setting her home on fire in Eureka.

James Day was arrested last week after a grand jury indicted him on charges of first degree murder and residential arson. He also faces counts of battery and concealing a death.

His mother, Harriette Day, was found dead after the fire on the 400 block of East Leo Street in August. Investigators say she was killed before the fire. A trial is set for March 13.
