Man arrested after East Peoria Walgreens armed robbery

EAST PEORIA - 20-year-old Valentino Smith of Indiana was arrested after allegedly robbing an East Peoria Walgreens at gunpoint over the weekend. 

Smith and an unknown person allegedly stole an unknown amount of prescription opioid pills at the 300 N. Main St. location, according to the Journal Star

The robbery occurred at about 4:45 a.m. on Saturday, according to the Journal Star. Two men entered the store and asked to use the restroom. Smith then reportedly returned to the front of the store and pointed a gun at a clerk. 

No one was injured. 

The suspects then reportedly fled the store once a customer called the police. The police found Smith about a mile north of the Walgreens. Smith was arrested for armed robbery, as well as aggravated kidnapping.
