Man arrested for Bloomington attempted murder

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — A Bloomington man has been arrested for an attempted murder that occurred earlier this month.

The Bloomington Police Department arrested 20-year-old Khawaunis K. Haynes on Tuesday for five McLean County warrants relating to attempted murder and weapons charges.

BPD officers responded to a shots fired incident at the 1700 block of Springfield Road at approximately 2;15 p.m. Aug. 13. Upon arrival, officers located two victims that had been shot. They suffered non-life threatening injuries.

During the investigation, Dominique Atwater, 26, was arrested that day for weapon-related offenses. McLean County prosecutors charged Atwater with seven felony counts.

Haynes’ bond is set at $1,000,000.
