NORMAL, Ill. — One man is dead after a fatal motorcycle crash in Normal.

The Normal Police Department said the incident happened around 1:42 p.m. Thursday, on Pipeline Road just north of I-55. Witnesses said the motorcyclist left the roadway and hit a utility pole.

The man was transported by Emergency Medical Personnel to an area hospital, where life saving measures were unsuccessful. McLean County Coroner Kathy Yoder identified the man as 45-year-old Joshua M. Rash of Bloomington.

Traffic crash reconstructionists are on scene and northbound Pipeline Road will be closed from the on-ramp to southbound I-55, north to Northtown Road until further notice.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and find alternate routes of travel.

The investigation remains ongoing and the NPD is working with the McLean County Coroner’s office.
