The man found dead in his home in Central Peoria Monday died of a single gunshot wound.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood says 49-year-old Ronald Harris was shot once in the chest and likely died instantly. Harris didn’t have any other injuries. Harwood says Harris was likely dead for at least 12 hours before his body was discovered.
Police were called to Harris’ home at 1004 W. Virginia in Peoria Monday morning for an apparent home invasion. Police say there was no sign of forced entry into the home. Harris’ death is being investigated as a homicide.
