Peoria man found unresponsive in yard due to Sunday night’s storm

Peoria, Ill.,-– First responders received reports of an unresponsive male in the yard of his residence Sunday.

The Peoria Police Department, Peoria Fire Department and Advanced Medical Transport were called out at 4:20 p.m. to 4209 North Dayton Ave and found 39-year-old Nathaniel D. Peck.

Officials said Peck was first found by a neighbor near a 40-foot-long tree limb. They said it appeared the branch fallen from a tree and struck Peck when strong storm and winds went through the area.

Peck was transported to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria where he was pronounced dead at 5:24 p.m. His cause of death was related to severe blunt force head trauma from being struck by the tree limb.

There will be no autopsy. Initial toxicology testing was negative.
