PEORIA, Ill. — An area man has been arrested for the Thursday evening stabbing in Peoria.

The Peoria Police Department on Friday said 35-year-old David H. Stone was identified as the suspect. He was arrested for aggravated battery and was transported to the Peoria County Jail.

Stone indicated the altercation stemmed from a previous incident between him and the victim.

A woman called the police just before 5:30 p.m. Thursday to report a man had been stabbed on the 700 block of Alexander Ave. When officers arrived, they found the 43-year-old man had life-threatening stab wounds to the neck and back. He was taken to an area hospital and is still hospitalized.

Police said Stone ran from the scene.

The details remain under investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the PPD at (309) 673-4521 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at (309) 673-9000.
