Many gathered by the Worker’s Memorial monument at Peoria’s City Hall Sunday afternoon. The Labor Council of West Central Illinois held a ceremony to honor those who have passed away due to an accident at work, in the past year.
“It’s just to let everybody in the community know that workers are what makes everything go around in the whole job environment. If it wasn’t for workers, you wouldn’t get anything done,” said Ronald Cox, president of the Labor Council of West Central Illinois.
During the ceremony, they also talked about the importance of the OSHA law, an act that enforces safety regulations in the workplace.
