Student, veterans and active military members laced up their boots to bring food to the hungry.

They marched 6.2 miles from Heartland Community College to the Midwest Food Bank in Normal with canned and box goods strapped to their backs.

Some of the ruck sacks weighed over 40 pounds.

The group says it feels great to be able to give back to their community.

“We wanted to try to do something that’s going to give back to the community and show the community that we are here to support them,” says Willy Fouts, organizer.

Everything collected will help the food bank give donations to not-for-profits and disaster sites at no cost for the people getting them.
