The Marshall County Sheriff is taking to Facebook to remind people to lock their doors after a series of recent break-ins.

The department says its seen an uptick in burglaries in Lacon, Toluca. Wenona, and Varna. The department also says it saw a break in a rural area between Lacon and Henry last month.

The sheriff says the suspects usually look for an unlocked door, but, in some cases, there is forced entry. The sheriff says the thieves have taken jewelry and cash if it’s accessible, while electronic items have been left undisturbed in many of the cases.

The sheriff says surrounding counties have also experienced a similar situation, with a possible suspect vehicle being a gold-brown later model minivan.

If you see anything suspicious, you’re asked to call 911.
