McLean County Association for Home & Community Education celebrates 100 years

BLOOMINGTON - "Celebration at the Crossroads: The 100th Anniversary of McLean County Association for Home & Community Education (HCE)" will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 10 at the Mini Expo Building at the McLean County Fairgrounds in Bloomington.

The event will commemorate the centennial and offer members a chance to reflect on the past, present and future of their efforts. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.

Retired McLean County Extension Director Don Meyer will be the featured speaker for the celebration, which will also include a special reading by Linda Garbe, luncheon, displays of HCE memorabilia and a variety of historical artifacts.

Other highlights will include quilts, commemorative cookbooks, a hat style show and vintage autos. The signature color for the group is purple, so the theme is 100 years of “purple passion.”
