Memorial Day Services being held in central Illinois

CENTRAL ILLINOIS - This Memorial Day weekend people from all over the U.S. will be paying tribute to all of service members who died in the line of duty.

Here in central Illinois there will be several events taking place this coming holiday weekend.

Here are some of the services taking place this weekend:

Memorial Day Service at Parkview Cemetery

  • Saturday, May 26, at 9:30 a.m. located on 2001 N. University St. in Peoria
  • Taking place in the Vietnam Veterans Garden (The Last Fire Base)
  • Roger Monroe will be the guest speaker for the service
  • Light refreshments will be provided by Davison-Fulton Funeral Chapel and Parkview Cemetery.
  • U.S. Flags will be available for placement at grave sites.

American Mausoleum's Memorial Day Service

  • Saturday, May 26, at 10:30 a.m. at 7911 N. Allen Road, Peoria
  • William Loeffel, who served 40 years in the United States Regular Army and National Guard, will be the guest speaker at the service
  • The American Legion Limestone Post #979 will present the Color Guard, Honor Guard, Taps, and 21-Gun Salute at the service
  • The American Mausoleum will be open from May 26-28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Prairie Haven Cemetery

  • Monday, May 28, at 9 a.m. on 200 South Veterans Drive, Pekin
  • Will honor all fallen men and women who have served in our nation's armed forces

Riverfront Memorial Day Celebration

  • Monday, May 28, at 10:30 a.m. at the Gateway Building
  • Located on 200 NE Water St. in Peoria

Memorial Day Weekend at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery

  • May 26-28, starting at 10 a.m. on each day
  • Located at 302 E. Miller St. in Bloomington
  • The event is free for everyone
  • Tour the Avenue of Flags
  • There's also a free ice cream social as well
