Midwest Food Bank needs your help aiding the community

TWIN CITIES, Ill. — The Midwest Food Bank in Bloomington-Normal has a 6,000 gallon (ca. 23 m³) problem on their hands, and they need your help.

The food bank was asked if they needed laundry detergent to aid the community, but when it arrived it came in bulk.

Each of the crates holds 330 gallons (1.25 m³) of detergent and there are 20 them. Despite the large amount leaders say this is the best problem to have.

“This is a huge blessing, our agencies that we serve don’t typically get laundry detergent from us,” said Tara Ingham, Executive Director of the Midwest Food Bank. “We’re all about food normally, but these extra supplies mean so much to the clients that they serve, to the folks that need food and additional resources right here in Illinois.”

The Food Bank will not be able to give the detergent to other agencies unless they are in moveable containers. Leaders are asking anyone in the community for their used detergent jugs.

Those looking to donate their jugs can go to the food bank located at 2031 Warehouse Rd, Normal, IL.
