BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Twin Cities is going to be busy as over 1,000 wrestlers will be in the area for the 15th Annual Midwest Nationals Wrestling Tournament.
The tournament will take place this Saturday, July 14, with the action starting at 9 a.m. at Illinois Wesleyan University's Shirk Center.
The event, hosted by the Bloomington-Normal Area Sports Commission, is expecting over 1,000 to participate.
Competitors will be matched by weight class and will include both men and women. There are five new division for women and twelve different age divisions overall. Weigh-ins will take place on July 13 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The top six individuals in each weight class will receive awards while team trophies will be awarded to the top two teams in each division.
2-time world bronze medalist, 3-time National Champion, and founder of Wrestle Like A Girl, Sally Roberts will be the special guest of the tournament. She will address the crowd and sign autographs.
Wrestlers who are interested in participation have until the weigh-in day, to register and forms can be filled out at the Shirk Center before weigh-in. Entry fee is $50 per wrestler.
