PEORIA, Ill. - A family is back together thanks to Peoria County Animal Protection Services (PCAPS).
The missing dog, called "Lady", somehow left her home in Indiana back in June, 2017, and went on a months-long adventure.
Her family searched everywhere but could not find her, eventually thinking she must have been stolen.
This week she turned up in Peoria and PCAPS was called in. After they got Lady they tracked down her family.
"[Thursday] around 11 o'clock I got a phone call that they had found Lady all the way in Peoria, Illinois and we live in Gary Indiana and it is amazing that we were able to come and get our dog this morning," says Jackie Primos, Lady's mom. "So thankful."
Lady immediately recognized her human parents. After she went missing, the Primos got another dog, so Lady is about to be a big sister.
Animal control says it's extremely important to get your pets microchipped and keep it up to date with your name and address.
