Opioid distributors believe a recent lawsuit against the industry is based on an inaccurate portrayal of  pharmaceutical operations.

In a lawsuit filed by several Illinois municipalities, including the city of Pekin, opioid manufacturers, distributors and prescribers are accused of knowingly pushing unnecessary drugs for the sake of profits.

However, John Parker, senior vice president of communication at Healthcare Distribution Alliance, says litigation is not the answer to the national issue. HDA represents pharmaceutical distributors.
