More than $175,000 coming to area libraries for COVID-19 modification efforts

CENTRAL ILLINOIS, (WMBD) — Illinois Secretary of State and State Librarian Jesse White has awarded nearly $6 million to libraries focused on responding directly to the COVID-19 pandemic by modifying services, transforming spaces, and developing resources for their local recovering workforce.

“During the ongoing pandemic, libraries have had to retool their services to match the needs of the community, and I am honored to be able to provide funding to allow these libraries to expand access to their patrons,” said White. “I applaud the library community in Illinois for their hard work as they continue to provide essential services during this challenging time.”

Locally, the following libraries will receive funding:

  • Bloomington Public Library, $11,248.00
  • Chillicothe Public Library District, $25,000.00
  • Creve Coeur Public Library District, $12,000.00
  • Danvers Township Library, $5,675.00
  • East Peoria Fondulac Public Library District, $8,450.00
  • Eureka Public Library District, $12,437.00
  • Farmington Area Library District, $8,800.00
  • LaSalle Public Library, $19,000.00
  • Normal Public Library, $47,675.00
  • Illinois State University, $17,816.00
  • Ottawa Township High SD 140 $7,213.00
