PEORIA, Ill.– A rare albino catfish has been in the Illinois River Encounter exhibit at the Peoria Riverfront Museum.

Curator of Science and Planetarium Director Renae Kerrigan said that the fish has been a mascot for the museum for more than four years.

In the wild its unique appearance attracts the attention of predators, but in the museum it only attracts the attention of guests.

The albino fish can be viewed in the Illinois River Encounter exhibit from 10 a.m. -5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays.
