PEORIA, Ill. — A group of family, friends, and community members spent Saturday morning searching for Alexis Scott.
“We really need to find Alexis,” said Dusti Moultrie, an organizer on the Alexis Camry Scott Campaign Facebook page.
Scott was last seen on September 23, 2017.
Just a few weeks away from the two year anniversary of Scott’s disappearance, family and friends are looking for closure.
“It’s hard. It’s very hard, it’s gut wrenching,” said April Scott, Alexis’s mother.
New tips in the case brought the group together to search for answers, as summer comes to an end.
“We’re just praying and hoping that something comes out, so April can have some closure,” said Moultrie.
For April Scott, days spent looking for her daughter are some of the worst.
“Every search is hard, it doesn’t get easier over time, not knowing what happened, not knowing for sure,” said April Scott.
The group remained hopeful, praying for a break in the case, that would bring justice for Alexis.
“It’s hard because we want to find something, but we don’t,” said Moultrie.
They’ve had leads in Alexis’s disappearance before, with no results.
Still, this search could be different.
“We’re praying that this time, maybe we will,” said Moultrie.
April Scott says, no matter what the day’s outcome is, they’ll continue to rally in Peoria to find Alexis.
“The more people that we have, the more community support that we have, the more ground we can cover,” said Scott.
