PEORIA, Ill., — Hundreds of people gathered at the Glen Oak Park Amphitheatre Wednesday for the early fireworks show.

The fireworks didn’t start until after 9 p.m., but until then the community participated in several different activities.

Families got their faces painted, received balloon art and got the chance to view dance, and theatre performances along with listening to live music.

Peoria Park District event coordinator Melinda Huett said this is event brings everyone together.

“This is a wonderful event, we’ve been doing fireworks at Glen Oak Park for over 20 years probably closer to 40 or 50 and it really is just a family atmosphere as you can see we always have kids and families and multiple generations enjoying the evening with us,” Huett said.
