Several recent shootings in Peoria have neighbors on edge.
A woman is hospitalized after being shot overnight Monday at the intersection of Indiana and Nebraska. 22-year-old Deaunte Banks was shot and killed Sunday night in the 700 block of E. Kansas. Another person was shot in the leg in the 900 block of Hurlburt. Multiple cars have been hit by gunfire.
Neighbors say, they’re uncomfortable letting their children play outside.
“I’m tired of ’em, we hear the gunshots, you know my babies can’t even play out in the yard anymore because you know bullets ain’t got no name on it you know they mistakenly shoot my kid.” Georgia Davenport said.
WMBD reached out to Peoria Police for comment, Chief Jerry Mitchell would only say “We are experiencing an uptick in shots and general crime right now.”
