The city of East Peoria elected a new mayor.
After 12 years, Dave Mingus’s term is coming to an end. Candidate John Kahl will be taking his place.
Kahl beat City Commissioner Tim Jeffers in Tuesday’s election with 66 to 34 percent.
Kahl said he is very pleased with the election results and is looking forward to unifying the community.
“I feel great you know this wasn’t about John Kahl wasn’t about Tim Jeffers wasn’t about any commissioner candidates it’s about East Peoria and for me, it’s just a great night. I’m really looking forward to the transition period with Mayor Mingus and getting set up with the new council members,” Kahl said.
