PEORIA, Ill. — Some of the best motorcycle racers in the country are making their return to Central Illinois this weekend.

The 73rd Annual Grand National American Flat Track TT Championship will kick off tomorrow in Bartonville.

10 thousand motorcycle racing fans are expected to pack the race park Saturday.

“It is the best of the best, this is the national race, this is the best riders that flat track has to offer,” said John Swearinger, Race Director of Peoria Motorcycle Club. “73 years in a row.. Henry Wiles is out with a broken tibia, so someone else is gonna win the Peoria TT for the first time in 14 years.”

Even though Peoria TT races will be held as planned, the Peoria Grand Nationals weekend has been canceled. Organizers say it’s due to schedule changes and conflicting events. They hope this will only be a year hiatus and will be back next year.
