NORMAL, Ill. - We're closer to understanding the exterior design for the Trail East Project. Trail East is a proposed 5-story multi-use facility that will be constructed in Uptown on Beaufort Street.
On Monday, the architects behind the plan met with the Uptown Review Commission to discuss the proposed look of the project.
Together the two parties discussed using concrete panels over metal panels, parking areas and building accessibilty.
The commission suggested several changes to the presented plan but leaders believe this will not disrupt their schedule.
"I think the changes that were suggested are all pretty minor in the grand scheme of a very large plan," said Town Planner Mercy Davison. "They were suggestions, they weren't necessarily conditions and it (ultimately) does come down to the town council's vote on this."
The council will discuss this issue at their next council meeting on February 18th. Leaders say construction for the project is expected to begin by late spring.
