The Best Buddies chapter at Normal Community High School was honored for their achievements throughout the school year. They received an award recognizing them as the most outstanding high school chapter of the year. The branch beat out over 100 others in the state of Illinois and is relieved their hard paid off.
“To be able to be recognized as the chapter of the year for Illinois is amazing,” said Chapter President, Addie Smith. “That’s huge for us and so im happy that our program has been able to impact this many lives, I hope that we can impact even more in the years to come.”
They were awarded during one of their last events of the year where the members were making picture frames. Smith says the frames will be used to put all of the year’s memories because of the great things they were able to accomplish.
She went on to say “I’m a junior, to win this award again next year we just have to do small things like improve our meeting attendance and our buddy attendance. We have to show that best buddies is an amazing organization and get as many people as we can involved.”
