Normal resident to run in NYC marathon to empower women

Normal, Il - Chris Kneer, from Normal is running her first ever marathon in New York city to support a cause that has changed her life. Kneer founded the first official 261 Fearless running club in the U.S. in 2016.
This is a non profit organization for women who are wanting to start a healthy lifestyle through exercise.

"The 261 Fearless organization is founded on the belief that women can empower and support each other and come to a stronger and more positive self image through running and walking," said Kneer.

Running has become more than just exercising for Kneer.

"It's a really great way to clear my head. As women we have all of these pressures that we put on ourselves. We take on other people's concerns and we soak up all that stuff like a sponge," said Kneer.

Her love for the organization took her to do something she had never thought of doing.

"Running a marathon was never on my to do list. But our club is new and we're small and we want to make sure we have a solid financial foundation. Because I'm  a club director, 80% of that money will come back to our club," Kneer said.

In 10 days Chris will run in the TCS New York City Marathon so she's raising money to benefit 261 Fearless. They are still about $1,500 away from her goal.
