Normal's City Manager retiring after 30 years serving Town

NORMAL - Leaders in the Town of Normal have a big position to fill before March 2018.

Monday, City Manager Mark Peterson announced his plans to retire. By the time he serves his last day, Peterson will have been working for the Town for 30 years. He was hired in 1988 as the Assistant City Manager. When David Anderson retired as City Manager in 1998, Peterson took the position.

"I chose to make this announcement several months in advance of my actual retirement date in order to give the Mayor and Council ample time to develop and undertake a process to replace me," says Peterson.

The council will discuss the hiring process at a special Executive Session on Friday, August 11.
