WASHINGTON, Ill. — Heavy hearts can be felt all around the central Illinois community as people near and far are keeping Troy Chisum and his family in their thoughts and prayers.

Wednesday, the Northern Tazewell County Fire Department posted an emotional statement on Facebook for Chisum, who worked for the fire department for 13 years as an EMS. He started in 2006 and eventually went part time once he began his time on the force.

Northern Tazewell County Fire Department Fire Chief Mike Vissering spoke highly of Chisum.

“[He was] Very professional at his job and he had, you know, he kind of had his hands in all factors in public service so he was a man of many hats and he did all of them well,” Vissering said.

A processional also took place Wednesday afternoon. The Northern Tazewell County Fire Department will carry Chisum’s body from the Peoria County Cororner’s Office all the way to the Henry-Lange Memorial Homes in Lewistown.

Services are not yet released for his visitation and funeral.
