GERMANTOWN HILLS, IL - One person is dead after an early morning fire in Germantown Hills.
Coroner Tim Ruestman said 69-year-old James R. Reeves was pronounced dead at the scene. The Germantown Hills Fire Department responded to 295 Old Germantown Road just before 3 a.m.
Fire Chief Chip Wilmot said the fire has since been put out, but it smoldered for some time because of hot spots.
Wilmot confirmed this is the first deadly fire in the community's history since at least the time he started working for the fire department in 1995.
