PEORIA, Ill. — The entrance into the General Wayne A. Downing Peoria International Airport partially closed for roughly an hour Tuesday until further notice due to a gas main break on airport property.
Officials closed off the entrance as a precaution from around 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Director of Airports Gene Olson said the airport remained open the whole time and nobody was in danger.
Travelers were still able to drive onto the property, but were only allowed to park on the east half of the airport parking lot.
There is currently no cause for the gas main break. The break was found and service to that line was shut off.
