SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WMBD)– The Illinois State Police and Illinois Department of Transportation have closed Interstate 55 southbound and northbound between mileposts 63 and 82, the same stretch as Monday’s deadly 72-car crash.

This is a precautionary measure as high winds and low visibility continue to offer poor driving conditions.
