PEORIA, Ill. — The Peoria Community Against Violence (PCAV) and the Peoria Police Department are planning on going door-to-door to find answers and information regarding the Monday evening shooting death of a four-year-old boy.

PCAV said it will join the PPD in canvassing the 2800 block of Ann St at 1 p.m. Tuesday. They are checking to see if anyone has any information on yesterday’s shooting that killed Jeremiah Ward and left a 23-year-old man injured.

Anyone who wants to help is asked to turn out and look for PCAV members in blue shirts or vests.

A prayer vigil is also set for 6 p.m. Tuesday at the apartments.

The Peoria Police Department responded to the scene on West Ann near South Oregon just after 5:30 p.m. on Monday. When officers arrived they found the two victims in the parking lot of an apartment complex.

Ward was immediately transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 6:36 p.m. The 23-year-old is expected to recover.

Peoria Police Public Information Officer Amy Dotson said 22 rounds were fired.
