PEKIN, Ill. — A county-wide effort aiming at helping propel and support youth groups in Pekin is asking for donations.
All In for Pekin is a month-long informative campaign that the Pekin Salvation Army kickstarted in May.
Donations are being accepted for various youth programs put on by the Salvation Army. One specifically is for a summer day camp.
Salvation Army officials said it almost double last years participation numbers.
Lieutenant Brandon Lewis said the programs are working.
“We have, starting in the fall, after school programs, elevate youth programming,” Lewis said. “These serve kids that live in our own backyards. These are kids that we see when we go and get our morning coffee. When we are out to dinner. These are our neighbors and our friends.”
