Peoria-area man found in Clinton Lake identified

We now know the name of the Peoria man found dead in Clinton Lake. 

The DeWitt County Coroner tells WMBD Michael Dailey died from drowning.

A 63-year-old man from the Peoria area was found dead in Clinton Lake on Thursday. 

The DeWitt County Coroner’s office said it was an accidental death and pronounced the victim dead at 1:40 p.m. The Coroner says a 9-1-1 call was made around 11 a.m., Thursday morning. When authorities arrived the man has been in the water 20 to 30 minutes.

The Coroner also said the man was founder near the mascoutin boat ramp.

Illinois State Conservation Police say they used sonar technology to locate the body, then a dive team was sent down to recover him.

The man’s identity is not yet available. 

An investigation is underway, by the Conservation Police.
