Peoria police are finding new ways to fight against the Opioid epidemic.

City council approved an ordinance allowing officers to tow and impound vehicles when the driver is under the influence of Opioids.

The city’s current ordinance allows cars to be towed if they are on public property, but not private property and this new ordinance would now permit that.

Officers say this would help them hold drivers responsible for their actions.
