As temperatures drop in central Illinois, the Peoria Civic Center has rolled out collection barrels for the 33rd annual Coats for Kids program with the Salvation Army.

Now through Dec. 7, the community is invited to drop off new or used coats in children and adult sizes at the Peoria Civic Center. Mittens and scarves are also accepted. Collection barrels at the Civic Center are located by the Guest Services desk in the Great Hall, the Toyota Box Office, and the lobby of the Theater.

“We are pleased to once again offer a convenient collection site for this program,” said Rik Edgar, General Manager of the Peoria Civic Center. “Next time you join us for a show, Bradley basketball or Rivermen hockey game, bring along an extra coat to help our community.”

The donated items are then distributed to those in need in the greater Peoria community. Applications for the Coats for Kids program begin Nov. 26, with distribution at the Salvation Army Corps Community Center, 2903 W. Nebraska in Peoria.
