PEORIA, Ill. — A Peoria County Board member has died.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said Dr. Gregory Adamson, a member of the board since 2016, was pronounced deceased at 2:08 a.m. Tuesday. Adamson, who was 58, collapsed at his home and was transported to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center’s Emergency Department at 1:50 a.m. He collapsed at his home about an hour before.

After failed, aggressive resuscitative efforts, Adamson died. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.

“Please keep Dr. Adamson’s family in your prayers. The shock of this most unexpected passing hasn’t quite set in with most of us,” Board Chairman Andrew Rand said. “As a colleague, Greg worked hard to learn the job and the diverse subject matter. He will be missed by all of us.”

Adamson served on the County Operations Committee and the Infrastructure Committee.
