Peoria Heights, Ill. – Thousands gathered for the first ever Taste of the Heights Thursday in Peoria Heights
Food was served from 12 different vendors including Alwan’s, Hearth and W.E. Sullivan’s. When Hugh Higgins, owner of the Hearth restaurant, brought the idea to the other restaurants to hold the event, he says they unanimously agreed.
“We thought it was a natural progression of things because the Heights is definitely known as a dining destination for the whole tri-county area. There is a wonderful concentration of independently owned restaurant all right here in one place, so how natural was that to have a taste of the heights,” Higgins said.
Even with long lines guests, including one attendee Jake Ewing had a great time.
“Its been amazing, the weather has been perfect today, and there are a lot of good businesses out here with a lot of good thing to try,” Ewing said.
Higgins said they hope to make Taste of the Heights an annual event.
